Child Wellbeing Services: Why Choose Beam Wellbeing?

Yellow lanyard with wellbeing text and a 'You Are Enough' pin on a wooden surface.

Improves self confidence and self esteem

I am utterly accepting of every individual and how they show up on any given day. Through our work together, they will experience building a positive, nurturing relationship with a trusted adult, which is a key aspect of childhood emotional support. Feelings will be validated, experiences shared and understood, and trust honored. They are given the time and space to express themselves without interruption or judgment, benefiting from school-based interventions like drawing and talking therapy.

Encourages play and imagination

Our sessions can be fun and provide essential childhood emotional support! They are packed full of incredible adventures, stories, destinations, and outcomes limited only by our imaginations. There is no specific learning objective or end goal, so there is no pressure—this is valuable child-led playtime, akin to drawing and talking therapy, which many children do not experience as they get older. Additionally, these sessions can serve as effective school-based interventions, helping children thrive in a supportive environment.

Develops a sense of validation and acceptance

I am not here to change your child, but rather to nurture and value them just as they are, providing genuine childhood emotional support. I will not be colour-coding emotions into 'red' and 'green', 'good' and 'bad'. Instead, I am here to say, 'I see you, I get you, it's ok.' Through drawing and talking therapy, I can help your child express themselves in a safe space. Inclusive of all individuals, I will meet your child exactly where they are, integrating school-based interventions when necessary.

Provides consistency

Same day, same time, same place, same face. This mantra underpins my work in providing childhood emotional support. School life can be hectic, and our lives are busy. That’s why I strive to create a consistent, predictable, and contained space for drawing and talking therapy, which is rarer than you might think in school-based interventions.

Family Support

Our consultation offers a confidential space for you to share your concerns and aspirations for your child, especially in terms of childhood emotional support. We understand that being a parent or carer can be challenging and isolating. Likewise, for school staff responsible for the safeguarding and welfare of hundreds of pupils, the environment can become highly pressurised. I am here to provide dedicated support for you and your family, including signposting to services, new research, and resources, such as drawing and talking therapy and school-based interventions, along with access to my own Beam library.

An established intervention

I am proud to be an active member of a network of over 40,000 Drawing and Talking practitioners nationwide, working in schools, hospitals, charities, and care homes. Together, we provide vital childhood emotional support for children, adults, and the elderly, both in person and via Zoom.

Drawing and Talking therapy complements the work of CAMHS and is particularly beneficial for those on the waiting list for other specialist services.

As an accredited, advanced practitioner with extensive experience in delivering this effective intervention, I have implemented school-based interventions across a wide variety of educational settings. I undergo regular training and supervision to uphold the highest professional standards in my work. This commitment allows me to proudly identify as an accredited Drawing and Talking Independent Practitioner, listed on their nationwide database.

Ongoing support

Once you have been a client of mine, you are in the club! Feel free to reach out for further advice and support. Drawing and talking therapy can be especially beneficial for childhood emotional support during challenging times, such as navigating transition, loss, academic stress, or changes in family life. This school-based intervention can be repeated whenever children experience a dip in their emotional wellbeing.
